Wanstead and South Woodford: where are the classes held?
Our Wanstead and South Woodford antenatal classes are held in the private room of the Bull Pub on Wanstead High Street It is a two minute walk from Wanstead station and Snaresbrook is also close by. The pub is also easily accessible by bus and there are parking options close by too.

Who runs the classes?
Meet Lucy.
Lucy is one of the midwives who teaches our Wanstead antenatal classes. Lucy qualified as a midwife from Anglia Ruskin University in 2016 and has worked in both the NHS and in private healthcare settings. Whilst having spent time across all areas of maternity care her heart lies with Labour Ward and that is where she has spent the majority of her career. She says: “Being able to support and educate families throughout this time is such a privilege that should be treated with the highest regard, compassion and sensitivity, in order to empower families to have the best possible birth experience, no matter how that might happen!”
How does this differ to NCT classes in Wanstead & South Woodford?
The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.
The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.
Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in the Wanstead and South Woodford area are priced at £369, compared to £259 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Wanstead and South Woodford take place at The Endeavour Scouts Hall and Wanstead Quaker Meeting House, whereas our classes take place at The Bull pub so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.
Our local Wanstead community
Most of the people coming on our Wanstead and South Woodford course are from Wanstead and South Woodford. The course is also popular with those living in neighbouring areas of Chigwell, Aldersbrook and Ilford.
From walks on Wanstead Flats and in Wanstead Park, to coffee shop hangouts and playdates at each other’s houses, graduates from our Wanstead and South Woodford antenatal classes are never short of things to do together.
