Pregnancy was great, text book until the last trimester where I got obstetric cholestasis. Therefore my obstetrician advised us to have an induction at 37 weeks if I didn’t start naturally to avoid any complications with the birth, HPHB helped us to understand all our options, understand the minds of the medical staff during birth time and helped us to create a network of support.

My labour was great and I ended up a caesarean birth, which was far from what I dreamt of it being but it was the right thing to do. I practiced Hypnobirthing techniques and the whole process was as smooth as it could have been. HPHB helped me feel prepared for whatever way my birth was going to go.

The first time I saw Hudson I wasn’t feeling normal from all the medication, but it was amazing/surreal seeing him and there were tears from both of us. It’s just so magical.

The first days with Hudson were overwhelming and no matter what you learn beforehand nothing can really prepare you mentally for being parents the first time...however once you come down from the initial ‘oh my we have a baby’ things start to click and you remember what you discussed/learnt prior. Our ‘Baby Moon’ at home, which we learnt through HPHB was our saviour - not stressing about anything else, just us three lazing in bed for two weeks getting to know each over.

I would absolutely recommend Happy Parents. Happy Baby! It was so in-depth on a variety of topics you wouldn’t necessarily think about. It was fun, interactive and very social. I have met friends for life in my group.

Top Tips

  • Do a course that covers all areas like HPHB especially with Hypnobirthing.

  • Build relationships with the group, they are you rocks once you have a baby.

  • Don’t rush to buy everything before your baby comes.

  • Enjoy the process and don’t get fixated on how you want your birth, things change and no matter how it happens the end result is the main goal.

  • And last thing, every couple and every baby are different so don’t listen to too many people, your journey

    will be unique to you.

  • Good luck! X
