We have set out the main details of the role below, but if you have further questions please email us at recruitment@happyparentshappybaby.com
What is the position?
Happy Parents Happy Baby course hosts and midwives deliver our award-winning antenatal classes in their local area.
The role involves delivering a two-hour course session on the same evening each week. This could be a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening (your choice).
The sessions are as follows:
- Week one: preparing for birth (7-9pm)
- Week two: hypnobirthing (7-9pm)
- Week three: practical baby care (7-9pm)
- Week four: self-care and baby first aid (7-9pm)
We ask you to arrive half an hour before to set up – so this equates to ten hours per month.
If you cannot commit to a regular weekly session, please let us know as we do have a small number of ‘floating’ midwives who provide course cover.
Will training be provided?
Yes. You will receive comprehensive training and lesson plans for each session. Our team will always be on hand to support you.
Where will my course be?
You will be offered an existing course if we have a vacancy close to where you live or we will work with you to identify a location in your area where we feel a course could be set up successfully. This will always be within 30 minutes of where you live or work.
Our team will work with you to find a suitable venue. We do not hold courses in hosts’ homes.
Will I need to pay for the venue hire?
No. This will be paid centrally by Happy Parents Happy Baby.
What will I be paid?
You will be paid £500 per full course, plus you can earn extra money if you refer people directly onto the course.
Will I need to fund my training or course equipment?
No. This will be covered by Happy Parents Happy Baby.
Will I need to coordinate bookings for my course?
No. This will be done centrally by the Happy Parents Happy Baby administration team.
Will I need to find people to come on the course?
We will ask you to work with us to spread the word about the course. We will pay for Google and social media advertising but will also ask for you to help to spread the word about your course locally.
Will I be employed by Happy Parents Happy Baby?
No. You will be working as a self-employed contractor. This means you send us an invoice at the end of the month for any work completed and we will pay you. Most of our midwives are also employed by the NHS.
Does contract work affect my maternity pay?
No. You can carry out self-employed work during maternity leave and this will not affect your maternity pay. See the full guidance here.
