Walthamstow: where are the classes held?

Our Walthamstow antenatal classes are held at The Bell pub, on Forest Road, which is close to Walthamstow Central station and which is easily accessible by bus. There is parking available close by too.

Who runs the classes?

**Meet Abby.**

Abby is one of the midwives who teaches our Walthamstow antenatal classes. Abby qualified as a midwife in 2015 from City University. She has worked at Homerton Hospital since then, working in many different departments, but spent the last three years on a caseloading homebirth team. Abby is very interested in movement and positioning to get baby into the optimal position for birth and has completed an Advanced Biomechanics Course. She also is passionate about baby wearing and reusable nappies and is happy to chat about both at length. She says: “I believe that knowing your options and being prepared about the twist and turns of pregnancy, labour and the newborn stage will only help you navigate the journey smoothly. Having a great network of like minded mums and dads only helps that! I love seeing the course mates grow in confidence over the course and see the beginnings of life long friendships!”

How does this differ to NCT classes in Walthamstow?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Walthamstow are priced at £369, compared to £259 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Walthamstow take place at Peter House Centre, whereas our classes take place at The Bell pub so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.

Most of the people coming on our Walthamstow course are from Walthamstow. The course is also popular with those living in neighbouring areas of Chingford and Tottenham.

From walks in Lloyd Park or in Walthamstow Village, to coffee shop hangouts and playdates at each other’s houses, graduates from our Walthamstow antenatal classes are never short of things to do together.
