Who runs the classes?

Meet Tessa

Tessa is one of the midwives that teaches Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes in Salisbury.

Tessa graduated from Edinburgh Napier University in 2012 and now works in her local maternity unit.

She has two young boys and loves being outside.

She says “I’m so excited to meet you all! I aim to support you throughout the course so by the end you will feel prepared and ready to meet your new arrival/arrivals!”

How does this differ to NCT classes in Salisbury?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Salisbury are priced at £269, compared to prices from £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Salisbury are held at the Salisbury Quaker Meeting House whereas our classes take place at the Rose and Crown Hotel so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.

Our local Salisbury community

Most people on our Salisbury course are from Salisbury. The course is also popular with people living neighbouring areas of Downton, Alderbury and Amesbury.

From walks to Old Sarum and trips to local farms, to hangouts in the coffee shops and at each other’s houses, graduates from our Salsibury antenatal classes are never short of things to do.

Is it worth it?

“The course was extremely well organised, informative and engaging. The midwife who led the course was very enthusiastic and had a lot of information to share. Both the in person sessions and the online videos taught me some very useful information. We have continued to meet up as a group and I hope this will continue. I would 100% recommend the HPHB courses and encourage attendees to really maximise the classes and resources provided.”
