Who runs the classes?

Meet Amelia.

Amelia is one of the midwives who teaches our Penge antenatal classes. Amelia is a sensitive and passionate midwife working in South East London. She loves supporting families by creating a safe space for women and birth partners to ask any questions around having a baby. There are no wrong questions! She loves yoga, watercolour painting and is always up for learning something new. She can't wait to welcome and support you on the course as you navigate the exciting journey of parenthood.

How does this differ to NCT classes in Penge?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, the closest NCT classes in Crystal Palace are priced at £299, compared to £259 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Crystal Palace take place at St Paul’s Church Hall, whereas our classes take place at a venue easy for you to relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.

Our local Penge community

Most of the people coming on our Penge course are from Penge. The course is also popular with those living in neighbouring areas of Anerley, Penge and Gipsy Hill.

From walks in Crystal Palace Park and trips to see the dinosaurs, to coffees in the Triangle and hangouts at each other’s houses, graduates from our Penge antenatal classes are never short of things to do together.

Is it worth it?

“Truly brilliant course. Couldn’t wish for better. Feel so much more empowered about birth and looking after baby having been on this course. The resources you’re given afterwards are great too. Excellent value for money! Thanks guys”
