Newcastle: where are the classes held?
Our Newcastle antenatal classes are held at local gem Pleased To Meet You in the city centre, which is close to the main train station and Metro stops.
How much are Newcastle antenatal classes?
Our Newcastle antenatal classes cost £199 for two people. We also offer a single-parent discount. See our FAQs for full details.
Who runs the classes?
Meet Bryony.
Bryony is one of the midwives that teaches our Newcastle antenatal classes. Bryony graduated from the University of Cumbria in 2020 and works as both a community and labour ward midwife. When she isn’t working, she is kept busy chasing after her son and her dog. Bryony is also a passionate crafter and usually has two or three projects on the go at once! She says ‘I can't wait to meet you all and is so excited to be a part of your journey into parenthood!’
How does this differ to NCT classes in Newcastle?
The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.
The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.
Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Newcastle are priced at £269, compared to prices from £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Newcastle are held at Gosforth Quaker Meeting House, whereas our classes take place at Pleased To Meet You where you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.
Our local Newcastle community
Most people on our Newcastle course are from Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The course is also popular with people living neighbouring areas of Gateshead, Hebburn and Wallsend.
From walks along the River Tyne and on the moors, to hangouts in the coffee shops and at each other’s houses, graduates from our Newcastle antenatal classes are never short of things to do.
