Angel & Islington: where are the classes held?
Our Angel and Islington antenatal classes are held at the Canonbury Tavern pub on Canonbury Place which is close to Highbury & Islington, Essex Road and Canonbury stations.

Who runs the classes?
Meet Sophie.
Sophie is one of the midwives who teaches our Angel and Islington antenatal classes. Sophie graduated with a Masters in Midwifery from the University of Hertfordshire in 2019. Prior to this, she also completed an Adult Nursing Degree in 2017. Sophie has worked as a midwife in antenatal clinics, community settings, labour wards, birthing units and post-natal wards. She can be found on her days off, spending time with her family and friends.
She says: “I am so excited to be teaching this amazing course! I cannot wait to meet you all and share with you the tips and tricks I have gathered over the years. For some of you, this is a very exciting time, for others, you may be feeling overwhelmed- or even a bit of both! My job is to make sure you all leave my classes feeling happy and calm; equipped with information that will empower you to make the right choices for your life and that of your new baby (or babies)!”
How does this differ to NCT classes in Angel & Islington?
The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.
The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.
Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Angel and Islington are priced at £369, compared to £259 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Angel and Islington are held at Lift Youth Hub Islington whereas our classes take place at the Canonbury Tavern pub so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.
