Edgbaston: where are the classes held?

Our Edgbaston antenatal classes are held in the gorgeous private room at The High Field, which is located in the heart of Edgbaston opposite St. George’s Church. There is plenty of on-street parking close-by as well as a car park at the rear of the venue.

How much are Edgbaston antenatal classes?

Our Edgbaston antenatal classes cost £199 for two people. We also offer a single-parent discount. See our FAQs for full details.

Who runs the classes?

Meet Helen.

Helen is one of the midwives that teaches our Edgbaston antenatal classes. Helen qualified as a midwife in 2015 from the University of Leeds. She has worked at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham since qualifying and has experience in many areas of maternity including antenatal and postnatal wards, the low risk birth unit and the bereavement suite and is currently working as a delivery suite co-ordinator. Helen loves the hustle and bustle of a busy labour ward and although some days can be challenging it's really where she thrives.

Helen says: “I really enjoy connecting with parents and being able to support them through what is a very exciting yet vulnerable time in their lives. I'm looking forward to sharing knowledge and skills to empower you in your journey to parenthood.”

How does this differ to NCT classes in Edgbaston?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Edgbaston are priced at £269, compared to prices from £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Edgbaston are held at Edgbaston Priory Club whereas our classes take place in the private room of the High Field pub so you can relax and socialise with your course mates.

Our local Edgbaston community

Most people on our Edgbaston course are from Edgbaston. The course is also popular with people living neighbouring areas of Har.borne, Bartley Green, Sparkbrook and Kings Norton.
