Who runs the classes?
Meet Lindsay
Lindsay is one of the midwives who teaches our Knutsford antenatal classes. Lindsay graduated as a qualified Midwife from the University of Manchester in 2010 and since then has worked as a hospital midwife caring for families during each stage of their pregnancies. She now works as a Midwifery Practice Educator in a Manchester hospital and has a passion for antenatal education.
Lindsay is also a busy mum of 2 young girls and enjoys playing netball for a local league in her spare time.
She says: “I am so excited to meet you on the course - this is such a special and exciting time in your lives and i can't wait to share my knowledge and experience with you to make sure you leave the course feeling supported, informed and ready for your new arrival(s)!”
How does this differ to NCT classes in Didsbury, Manchester?
The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.
The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals
Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes near Didsbury are priced at £269, compared to £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes near Didsbury are held at the Northern Tennis Club, whereas our classes take place at The Didsbury pub so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.
Our local Didsbury community
Most people on our Didsbury course are from Didsbury and surrounding areas in Greater Manchester. The course is also popular with people living neighbouring areas of Wythenshawe, Gatley and Cheadle.
From walks in Fletcher Moss Park, to hangouts in the coffee shops and at each other’s houses, graduates from our Didsbury antenatal classes are never short of things to do.
Is it worth it?
“This course has been amazing for so many reasons. I went from being nervous about birth, to really excited. I’ve also made so many new mum friends in my area and we still meet up most days.”
Katia and Jon, February 2023 course
