Who runs the classes?

Meet Jess

Jess is one of the midwives that teaches our Clifton antenatal classes.

Jess graduated in 2018 from Kingston University, she has worked within both the community and hospital setting since qualifying. Her passions are supporting families with feeding in the first crucial stages, and supporting physiological birth. She loves being outdoors and exploring new countries (as she demonstrated by spending 2 years backpacking!), when she is in the country she loves walking, climbing and playing the piano.

She says 'I'm so excited to meet you all and help you on your journey to becoming parents. You will leave the course feeling confident and excited for the next chapter of your lives, it is a privilege to be there to help you prepare you for it!'

How does this differ to NCT classes in Bristol?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Bristol are priced at £299, compared to prices from £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes near Clifton are held at the Redland Quaker Meeting House whereas our classes take place at The Lansdown pub so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.

Our local Clifton community

Most people on our Clifton, Bristol course are from Clifton, Bristol. The course is also popular with people living neighbouring areas of Redland and Temple Meads.

From walks to look at the view from the Bridge and around the village, to hangouts in the coffee shops and at each other’s houses, graduates from our Clifton, Bristol antenatal classes are never short of things to do.

Is it worth it?

“We made the most amazing group of friends on this course. The instructors were so supportive, and I learnt so much. We can’t recommend it enough.”

Polly and Keith, May course
