Who runs the classes?

Meet Sophie.

Sophie is one of the midwives who teaches our Cambridge antenatal classes. Sophie graduated from London City University in 2015 and has spent her career working in all areas of midwifery - she is currently working on the delivery suite. Sophie is also a mum to three daughters and loves getting out for a run or into the garden for a spot of ‘quiet time’ when she can!  Sophie says: “I feel really excited and privileged to support families through this incredible time in their lives. I’ll ensure they feel prepared for everything this adventure may throw at them in a sociable, fun and supportive environment!”

How does this differ to NCT classes in Cambridge?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Cambridge are priced at £299, compared to prices from £199 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Cambridge are held at Hills Road Sixth Form College whereas our classes are held at The Waterman pub where you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.

Our local community

Most people on our Cambridge course are from Cambridge. The course is also popular with people living neighbouring areas of Cambourne, Cottenham and Newmarket.

From walks around historic Cambridge and along the river Cam, to hangouts in the city’s lovely coffee shops and at each other’s houses, graduates from our Cambridge antenatal classes are never short of things to do.

Is it worth it?

“Everything about this course is great – from the depth of knowledge you gain, to the hands-on practice you get with all sorts of skills. It’s in a really fun and sociable format, so you’ll also come away with a great group of friends.”

Jaz and Jamie, May course
