Who runs the classes?

Meet Jodie.

Jodie is one of the midwives that teaches our Bethnal Green and Mile End antenatal classes.

Jodie graduated in 2018 from Anglia Ruskin University with a First Class Honours in Midwifery and now works as a Community Midwife for Queens Hospital in Romford. She’s also a busy mum to 2 under 2, one girl and one boy. She doesn’t get much spare time but when she does, she loves to dine out in her favourite local Italian Ciao Bella!

Jodie says “I’m really looking forward to meeting you all on the course. Together as a group, you will establish long lasting friendships that will see you through all the exciting challenges and joys that being new parents can bring. I can’t wait to support you all, ensuring that you feel fully informed and prepared for every step of the way!’

How does this differ to NCT classes in Bethnal Green & Mile End?

The reason NCT springs to mind first for many people when thinking about antenatal classes is because the classes have been around since the 1950s. For many decades they were the only form of antenatal classes available. This means many people believe that all antenatal classes are NCT classes, which is not the case.

The NCT is a charity and instructors complete a degree course to teach the classes. All Happy Parents Happy Baby instructors are midwives and doctors so have a degree but also thousands of hours of practical experience working in birth centres and hospitals.

Unlike NCT classes, our antenatal classes all include hypnobirthing and baby first aid at no extra cost. At the time of writing, NCT classes in Bethnal Green and Mile End are priced at £369, compared to £259 for Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes. NCT classes in Bethnal Green & Mile End are held at the Bernie Cameron Community Centre, whereas our classes take place at the The Crown overlooking Victoria Park, so you can relax and make the most of socialising with your course mates.

Our local community

Most of the people coming on our Bethnal Green and Mile End course are from Bethnal Green and Mile End. The course is also popular with those living in neighbouring areas of Haggerston, Shadwell and Bow.

From walks in Mile End Park and Victoria Park, to coffee shop hangouts and playdates at each other’s houses, graduates from our Bethnal Green and Mile End antenatal classes are never short of things to do together.

Is it worth it?

“We’ve found such a supportive community, which we know will be invaluable in the years ahead. We’ve also learnt so much from all the different specialists. This course is seriously good.”
