Tell us about your family…
Hello. We are Ella and Joe. Ella works as a people partner at a data consultancy and Joe is a software consultant. We are parents to Gigi and toy poodle Milo. We took the Happy Parents Happy Baby antenatal classes in Harrogate.
How was your pregnancy?
My pregnancy was rough with constant morning sickness throughout, PGP and acid reflux. I also experienced at least 8 episodes of reduced movement which would send me into the maternity assessment centre.
Where did you have your baby?
Harrogate hospital.
How was your birth?
I ended up having an emergency C-section because I felt reduced movements. My midwife ended up being Jess who ran out HPHB course. Seeing Jess’ face gave us the reassurance we needed to know we were in safe hands. As I couldn’t move after Joe had to do everything like nappies and he was alone with her whilst they brought me into recovery. Attending the course had given him the confidence to handle everything like a pro.
How did you feel when you first met your baby?
Awe and astonishment.
How were the early days with your baby?

Recovering from unplanned surgery and subsequent bonding with my baby.
