You’ll learn important baby first aid skills and talk through self care for new parents, including recovery from birth, changes to your postnatal body, and adapting to life with a newborn. We also provide practical support for birth partners, co-parents and anyone helping you in the early days.

Self care for new parents

2h in person session: Head to the venue and spend the evening building friendships with your coursemates. You may not realise it now, but these are the people who can keep you company during those 3am feeds, first walks with the pram, and “is this normal?” messages.
Please note: This session is a social opportunity and is not instructor-led.
By this point, your group will be a whole lot bigger, as you’re joined by all the new additions.
This session is a lovely chance for the babies to meet each other and for your group to keep building what we hope will become lifelong friendships.

Hannah is a is a hypnobirthing teacher with experience helping expectant parents feel calmer and more confident about birth..
She is a busy mum with over six years of experience helping new parents feel more confident and prepared for birth. She’s looking forward to sharing practical tools and techniques to support a calm and positive birth experience.

Rebecca is is an IBCLC lactation consultant and supports parents with infant feeding, whether they choose to breastfeed, bottle feed, express, or do a bit of everything.
She’s also a mum herself and brings both clinical expertise and personal experience to her work. Rebecca is committed to supporting you with your feeding choices, whatever they may be.

Dr Andy teaches practical baby first aid skills in a calm, clear and reassuring way, so parents know what to do if their baby needs help.
He is a consultant in neonatal medicine at a busy London children’s hospital. With a Master’s in medical education and years of experience supporting thousands of parents through HPHB courses, he brings both clinical insight and a practical approach. As a dad himself, he’s passionate about helping parents feel confident with essential baby first aid skills.

Most parents join an antenatal course during the later stages of pregnancy, often in the third trimester. We recommend choosing a course that finishes before your baby is due, so you have time to practise, ask questions and get to know your group before birth.
Yes. Our course price includes up to two attendees, and birth partners play an important role. Partners, co-parents, relatives, friends and solo parents are all welcome.
No. Many people join antenatal classes because they are preparing for their first baby, but you are welcome if this is not your first pregnancy or birth. Every pregnancy, baby and family set-up is different.
Yes. We cover pregnancy, labour and birth in detail, including the stages of labour, different types of birth, induction, Caesarean birth, assisted birth, comfort measures, informed choice and what may happen if plans change.
Yes. You’ll learn practical newborn care skills, including holding and settling your baby, nappies, bathing, dressing, cord care, safe sleep, swaddling, baby wearing and what to expect in the fourth trimester.
Hypnobirthing is included as part of our wider antenatal course in Leigh on Sea. You’ll learn practical tools for breathing, relaxation, decision-making, birth positions and feeling calmer during labour and birth.
Yes. Baby first aid is included in the course. You’ll cover practical topics such as CPR, choking, recovery position, fever, seizures, burns, meningitis and when to get help.
